Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is a prescription injectable treatment for dilated spider veins and varicose veins. Dr. Claiborne typically uses Asclera polidocanol injections to irritate and damage the lining of the dilated and enlarged blood vessels causing blood platelets and cellular debris to attach to the lining of the vessels and replace the clotted vein to be replaced with tissue.  On average, 87% of patients were satisfied or very satisfied with their Asclera treatment.

A typical sclerotherapy session lasts between 15 to 45 minutes depending on the number of vessels to be injected. One injection is usually administer per inch with multiple injections per session. Following treatment, it is recommended that compression stockings be worn continuously for the first 2-3 days. After the first few days, compression stockings are recommended for day-time wear for 2-3 weeks. Repeat treatments may be necessary to achieved optimal outcomes.
