Dr. Martin D. Claiborne is a Board-Certified dermatologist with over 40 years experience practicing in New Orleans, Louisiana. He attended Washington & Lee University in Virginia for his undergraduate degree in medicine. After graduating with honors, he returned to New Orleans to attend Tulane School of Medicine. Dr. Claiborne did his residency at Charity Hospital of New Orleans, one of the nation’s leading trauma centers in its time. Following his residency, he went on to earn a specialty degree in the field of Dermatology.
In 1979, Dr. Claiborne joined the establishment of Drs. Muundt and Bradley whose office location on Louisiana Avenue, home to the current MD Claiborne Dermatology flagship Uptown Office, opened in 1943. Dr. Claiborne helped to meet the growing skincare needs of the Uptown area of New Orleans and, with the collective efforts of Drs. Mundt and Bradley, opened two additional offices in Jefferson and St. Bernard Parish. Today, all three of those offices are part of the MD Claiborne Dermatology legacy in the Greater New Orleans area.
In addition to private practice, Dr. Claiborne is a member of the medical staff of Touro Infirmary, East Jefferson General Hospital, Tulane Hospital and Ochsner St. Bernard Parish Medical Center. He also maintains active memberships with the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the Louisiana State Medical Society and the Louisiana Dermatological Society.
He was born and raised in New Orleans, has a deeply rooted family history in the beautiful state of Louisiana, and has raised his own family in New Orleans. He has been married for over 35 years and has three grown sons, one of whom – Dr. W.C. Cole Claiborne- practices with him at MD Claiborne Dermatology. Dr. Claiborne specializes in treating patients with all manners of skin diseases and ailments. His innovative approach to skincare has been proven effective and continues to be cutting-edge given his extensive experience in the field and patient treatment successes.
